Alexander Louzada

I built Transworld's tracking and ERP system in 2006. In 2026 the company asked me back to build the next one.

Transworld has moved families and companies between Brazil and the United States since 1985. The system I built while I was its development and IT manager still runs the operation. Since January 2026 I'm back, as a contractor, responsible for the architecture and development of its next generation.

What Transworld does

Transworld was founded in Brazil in 1985. It handles international and domestic moves, and it also runs a storage business.

Its customers include expatriate families as well as multinational companies and embassies.

The company runs its own fleet of trucks and its own packing crews. For deliveries outside its bases it works through a network of agents abroad. Transworld holds the FAIM accreditation from FIDI, the international movers' federation, which is audited every year by an independent company.

What the system has to do

An international move passes through many hands before it is delivered: the quote, the survey, packing, documents, customs and the agent at the destination. Transworld needed one system to follow each move through those stages and to run the company's own administration. That is the tracking and ERP system I built.

My role, then and now

From May 2006 to September 2011 I was Transworld's development and IT manager. I designed and built the tracking and ERP system, and I ran the company's IT.

In January 2026 Transworld hired me as a consultant, on contract, to lead the architecture and development of the next generation of that system. The company kept running on the original the whole time, so the new generation is designed by the person who knows why each part of the old one exists.

Why this page has no screens

The system is Transworld's internal tool and it runs the company's day-to-day work. At Transworld's request, this page doesn't show screens or describe how it is built.

Decisions

Keep the current system running while the next one is built.
The original system still runs the operation every day. The next generation is built alongside it, so moves in progress are never put at risk.
One system for operations and administration.
In 2006 I chose to follow each move and run the company's administration in the same system. That is why it is called tracking and ERP, and why it has lasted.

Scale

The system has been in daily use at Transworld since I built it, through 2026. Transworld has operated since 1985, with offices in Brazil and the United States.
